3 tablespoons golden syrup
200g Dad’s Quick oats
Melt the butter in a saucepan over a very gentle heat. Mix in the sugar, golden syrup and oats.
Stir well and turn the mixture into a well-greased square tin and press lightly. Smooth over the surface and bake in the centre of a moderate oven, 180 degrees Celsius, for 30-35 minutes.
Leave in the tin for a few minutes to cool slightly then cut into squares or fingers. Leave in the tin until quite cold.
Other ingredients such as mixed spice, nuts and dried fruit can be added for variety.
